Terms and Conditions for The Big Paddle Thames Challenge

By registering for The Big Paddle - The Thames Challenge (the "Event"), you (the "Participant") agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read this document carefully before completing your registration.

Acknowledgement of Risk:

  • The Participant acknowledges that paddle boarding on the River Thames involves inherent risks, including but not limited to, water conditions, weather, potential collisions, and physical exertion.

  • The Participant understands that these risks could result in personal injury, illness, or even death, and accepts full responsibility for any risks arising from participation in the Event.

  • We strongly advise the wearing of buoyancy aids at all times.

Medical Condition:

  • The Participant confirms that they are physically fit and capable of participating in the Event. It is the Participant’s responsibility to consult with a medical professional if they have any concerns regarding their health in relation to this activity.

  • The Participant agrees to carry any necessary personal medication during the Event.

Insurance:

  • The Participant acknowledges that it is their responsibility to obtain appropriate insurance cover for participation in the Event. The Big Paddle Charity will not provide any insurance cover for Participants.

Waterways Licence:

  • The Participant acknowledges that a waterways licence is required to paddle board on the River Thames.

  • It is the Participant's responsibility to notify the Event Organisers through the registration form if they do not own a waterways license and will need to be covered by the Event Organiser’s event license.

  • The Participant agrees to present proof of their own waterways licence at registration or upon request by the Event Organisers.

Release of Liability:

  • The Participant agrees to release, waive, and discharge The Big Paddle Charity, its trustees, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and any other associated entities (collectively, the "Organisers") from any liability for any injury, loss, or damage suffered as a result of participating in the Event.

  • The Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Organisers against any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of or in connection with their participation in the Event.

Photographic and Media Release:

  • The Participant grants permission to the Organisers to use their image, name, and any audio or video recordings of them, taken during the Event, for promotional and fundraising purposes without compensation.

Code of Conduct:

  • The Participant agrees to follow all instructions given by the Event organisers and marshals, adhere to safety guidelines, and act in a manner that ensures the safety and enjoyment of all participants and spectators.

  • The Participant will respect the environment and leave no litter.

Event Changes and Cancellations:

  • The Organisers reserve the right to change the Event details, including the date, time, and route, or cancel the Event in the case of unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or other safety concerns.

  • If the Event is cancelled, the Organisers will make reasonable efforts to inform Participants as soon as possible.

Data Protection:

  • The Participant’s personal information will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws. The information provided will be used for the purposes of organising and administering the Event and for informing Participants about future events and activities.

Agreement:

  • By registering for the Event, the Participant confirms that they have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.

  • Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian read and agree to these terms and conditions on their behalf.
